Dr. Mark Rodefeld - Implantable Fontan Pump
Cortney Gives BAK funded Dr. Rodefeld’s Implantable Fontan Pump research project for $150,000.00.
“The implantable Fontan pump will add a subpulmonary power source in a Fontan circulation and, for the first time ever, restore normal 2-ventricle health in a way that is safe and durable. The Cortney Gives BAK Foundation funds will be used to develop the electronic drive system that will be needed to operate the device. This includes wiring, electronic controls (software, firmware, hardware), and power source. These funds will allow us to develop the foundation for the clinical system drive. In turn, this will help with FDA approval for early feasibility studies in humans and facilitate getting the technology to patients who need it.” - Dr. Rodefeld
